Product Overview

ASTM A516 Grade 70 is the most widely used grade of carbon steel for moderate- to lower-temperature service in welded pressure vessels. It offers an excellent combination of strength and notch toughness, making it the standard choice for manufacturing boilers, heat exchangers, and oil & gas storage tanks.

At Convergence Steel, we stock SA 516 Gr 70 plates that are often dual-certified (meeting both ASME SA 516 and ASTM A516 standards). We can also provide plates that are 'Normalized', a heat treatment process that refines the steel's grain structure to improve impact resistance at low temperatures.

For critical applications in the oil and gas industry, we offer plates that are HIC (Hydrogen Induced Cracking) tested and compliant with NACE MR0175 standards for sour service environments. This ensures the material's resistance to corrosion and cracking in hydrogen-rich atmospheres.
